چکیده

F or adequate sealant retention, the bonding surface area must be maximized and the enamel clean, free of salivary contamination, and dry at the time of sealant placement.I, 2 However, because pit and fissure sealants bond to the cuspal incline planes and not to the bottoms of the pits and fissures,B_6 insufficient curing of the resin sealant could reduce the bond strength. The purpose of this study was to compare the shear bond strength to enamel of filled (PrismaShieldTM and FluroShieldTM) and unfilled (HelioseaUM, DeltonTM, and ConciseTM) sealants light-cured for different times.

Evaluation of Microleakage in Fissure Sealants following Contamination with Artificial Saliva at Different Curing Times with or without using bonding agent

Background and Aim: One of the important factors in microleakage of fissure sealants is saliva contamination. Researchers believe that applying bonding agents can reduce the microleakage. The present study compared the microleakage of a fissure sealant contaminated with artificial saliva at different curing times with or without using a bonding agent. Materials and Methods: In this in-vitro ...

Effect of Multiple and Single Emission Peak Light Emitting Diode Light Curing Units on the Degree of Conversion and Microhardness of Resin-Based Pit and Fissure Sealant

Objective: To assess a multiple emission peak light-emitting-diode (LED) light-curing unit (LCU) by measuring the polymerization efficiency through the degree of conversion (DC) and Knoop microhardness (KH) of a resin-based pit and fissure sealant at various light curing times and two distances compared to a single emission peak LED LCU. Method: Sixty disks of a resin-based pit and fissure seal...

Impact of extended radiant exposure time on polymerization depth of fluoride-containing fissure sealer materials.

Physical properties such as surface hardness of dental materials are directly linked to their clinical behavior. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of extended curing time on the polymerization depth offluoride-containing materials used as pit and fissure sealants. Conventional and extended exposure times (20 and 60 seconds) were used to photoactivate a gold-standard pit and...

Effect of irradiation times on the polymerization depth of contemporary fissure sealants with different opacities.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the depth of curing of 10 contemporary blue light-activated dental flowable materials at several opacities, influenced by different irradiation times using FT-IR spectroscopy. Fifty-five specimens (n = 5) with a 5-mm diameter and 1-mm thickness of translucent (Opallis Flow T), yellowed (Master Flow A2; Opallis Flow A2; Natural Flow A2; Fluroshield Yellowed)...

Micro-leakage of a Fissure Sealant Cured Using Quartz-tungsten-halogen and Plasma Arc Light Curing Units

Background and aims. Newer curing units such as plasma arc can polymerize the sealants in much shorter curing times. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of two different curing units on the micro-leakage of a fissure sealant material. Materials and methods. Sixty two extracted premolars without caries were randomly divided into two groups of 31 samples. Occlusal surfaces of all teet...
